I have this amazing friend who is pregnant (Yay!) She is a good soul and this baby is a well worth the wait gift. About a year ago she brought me 2 skeins of the most yummy & delicious wool handspun I have ever seen/felt. The softness is unbearable. The colors are muted, soft, taupe & grey, just delicious. She asked that when she gets pregnant if I could knit her a baby blanket. The answer was yes (no question, but the yarn was an extra push to start a new project.) Fast forward 4 months and she finds out she is pregnant!
This holiday was a bit crazy and we finally got the house back to normal: holiday decorations down, 7 bags of trash waiting for Thursday and a studio clean and fresh and ready for some action. Thus..... the beginnings of a yummy lap blanket (tight knit, as requested ;) ).........

I can practically feel the softness just from your photos! What a great project for a dear friend. :)
I have some baby knitting too; my sis has a friend who's due in Feb, and she wants me to make a pair of socks and possibly a hat (I'm not as good a knitter as you so it'll take me a while...LOL!).
xoxo! Danielle picked the yarn - she has great taste - I just got the luxury of knitting with it!
There is a great book - Natural Knits - I plan on knitting our new lil' one a few pieces from there - easy patterns yet adorable!
I don't know what to say; what a heartfelt article. Thank you soo much. The baby blanket is turning out absolutely beautiful. To say that you didn't pull a tear out of my eye would be a lie. You are such a great friend and words can't express what this means to me. Love you.
Wow ~ beautiful! The yarn is amazing and what a unique baby blanket it makes with those yummy soft colors!
