Coming Soon... Fun Coasters!

Hehe I love finding a new craft that I love. Today was a lot of fun. I bought 6 colors of felt, cut, sewed and put them together to form the cutest little sets. With friends buying new homes, having babies and just having parties in general, I always have a hard time thinking of what to bring. Dessert or wine has always been the usual from us. But I wanted to come up with a few new ideas to maybe add to the old ones.

Each set has 6 coasters that have cute decorative edges and stitches. They are the perfect size for a glass or mug and come in the pretties colors. Shown abive are the pink/grey/ coffee combo and the blue /cream/ camel combo.

I will be listing them soon to Kiss My Style but want to add a few more color combos first. Right now you can find them at Nibbles & Bits in Dunmore (344-1955).
Cheers!

A simple brooch can make all the difference

Sometimes all you need to spic up an outfit is a little color. Brooches are wonderful ways to change a look from casual to business to evening to morning. Spring is here and these lightweight beauties spice up spring jackets, blazers, belt loops, purses, even t-shirts. Affordable enough to own a few - experiment! Compliments will be a common occurrence.

The above brooch by artisan thejunebride.etsy.com is a wonderful way to enter spring with color! This reclaimed wool brooch measures approximately 3.25”-3.75” across and features a convenient easy open-and-close hinged pin on the back for safety and security.

Next are the felted brooches by artisan LISAandLUCY.etsy.com These pieces have been wet felted and left to dry so the ends of the flower curl over creating a more realistic effect. Various glass beads on wire create three stamens that can be bent however you choose. The flower and stem measure 4" tall and 3 1/2" at the wide area.

This adorable brooch by artisan nancyknitsandstuff.etsy.com is a unique approach to a floral brooch! A bird brooch made with a miniature green hued bird and vintage and new millinery pieces. The bird is perched on top of a button and items are wrapped and tied with a silk ribbon. Some glue for extra security. Millinery pieces include velvet leaves, flowers and a spun cotton mushroom.

Happy decorating your spring wardrobe!

Poshmama Article Crafty Moms make great bloggers!

Browsing blogs is a fun pastime. And browsing craft and handmade blogs is MY favorite pastime minus the obvious (lol). This week I am dedicating this article to one artist. Kimmy Steckler has an Etsy shop ksteckler.etsy.com but it was her blog that truly caught my eye. A blend of family & fun, her blog exudes a talented artist & great mom.

The pieces below can be purchased at her Etsy shop, but trust me, reading her blog will make you smile. :) She uses a mixture of new fabric with recycled & vintage to create everything from toys & clothes to home decor - you name it - she can make it! It's not just her craft that will keep you hooked, just search her blog from cover to cover and you will see its her humor, family pics and fun ideas that really draw you in to a world of crafty fun & flair.

Here are a few of her fabulous pieces(as well as the above apple):

Feel free to browse through her addiction to fabric, fun recipes for edible play dough & her creative approach to felt - a tried and true element of the art world since we were all in kindergarten cutting out our Halloween pumpkins. Kimmy has taken a simple craft and made it an art. Enjoy!

Cheers!
